Theory of Waves are paintings on canvas originally using only one shade of blue and flat white paint. Most of the works are large scale, (72"x48"), intended to submerge on viewing. 

 

The paintings vacillate between representation, and complete abstraction.

 

The series provokes the notion of gesture. Foregrounds and backgrounds are interchangeable, as well as positive and negative space.

 

The work relies heavily on ideas of flow that occur in: nature, science and art.

Ultimately they rest in a meditational space.
